A Bit of a Change Up
Week 3 Wrap Up/Week 4 Preview
Ok, this article is coming out pretty late. I place all the blame on my celebration of the Virginia Tech win and my apparent lack of an immune system.
Week 3 was a pretty awesome week in college football but with Week 4 coming up on us pretty fast, this will be a more of a preview article then a discussion of the week past.
Here is a quick rundown of week 3:
Virginia Tech had an impressive win over Purdue. I am happy with a 2-1 start for the Hokies. UVA finally had a win, but just barely over FCS mainstay William & Mary. Stanford and Ole Miss had huge wins over USC and Alabama respectively. Those upsets really shook up the predictions of who will be going into the college playoff. I am sticking by my predication that only Ohio State will be coming into the 4 team playoff undefeated.
So now on to Week 4. Here are the games that I will have great interest in and will be following. I unfortunately will be doing so by mobile device because I will be “Shipping Up to Boston” this weekend. I plan on hearing that song at least 10 times while driving up there.
GAMES TO WATCH IN WEEK 4
Boise State vs Virginia
This is a big game for Virginia. They are playing on prime time on Friday night. They need this win to get back on track for them to be competitive in the ACC. The win over William & Mary was not impressive enough for me to be convinced they are ready for the long haul of the season.
(20)Georgia Tech vs Duke
This is a huge ACC match-up. Georgia Tech is the favorite to represent the Coastal Division in the ACC Championship. Duke has been improving the past few years. This could be a statement game for them if they can beat the Yellow Jackets. Also, I don’t like Georgia Tech. Duke winning won’t upset me one bit.
Virginia Tech vs ECU
This match up has turned into quite the rivalry as of late. ECU has always played Virginia Tech tough. They beat Virginia Tech last year in the closing moments of the game. This came right after the win to Ohio State so it was quite the letdown. If Virginia Tech can continue this winning streak, the fans will have a renewed faith in Frank Beamer, the most successful coach in Virginia Tech history. The team has under-performed in recent years, having only .500 record in the ACC since 2012 and despite his contract extension good through 2019, many Hokie fans wonder how much time he really has left. A win against ECU will quiet those doubts and make the beginning of the ACC schedule not such a scary thing. I have been impressed with the Hokies so far this season. I have a good feeling about the rest of the season.
UCLA (9) vs Arizona (16)
This is the big top 25 match up of the week. I have been really interested in Rosen, the true freshmen quarterback for UCLA. He is going to be big for this school. If UCLA continues to win, I would not be surprised to see them in the top 4.
There we have it the games to watch this upcoming week. I think after this week I can my first true prediction on who will be in the Top 4 at the end of the season. Stay tuned folks. Enjoy the games!
